Jesus Dies and is Raised from the Dead

I Corinthians 15:19-23
If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruit of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive, But each in his own turn: Christ, the first fruits; then, when He comes, those who belong to Him.

Jesus, the Son of the Living God, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life, dies on a cross in obedience to God’s will, so that we might receive forgiveness of our sins through His sacrifice. God the Father was determined to forgive us even though we did not (could not) deserve His forgiveness. Jesus came to make that forgiveness possible.  When He died for us, He destroyed Satan’s hold over us forever. After His death, He was buried. But Jesus did not stay in the grave. On the third day, He was raised from the dead. After His resurrection He was later seen alive by many people. He will never die again, Because of His sacrifice, His death, and His resurrection, we may have eternal life. Jesus died once for all of us. When He was resurrected by the power of God. He conquered death once for all of us. Now He is alive forever. By His grace we can share in His death and in His resurrection.
